Marco Benevento reviewed in the New York Press

Tree Lawn Artists wishes to congratulate Marco Benevento on his success in re-scoring "House of Usher". He recently received review in the New York Press listed below.

"With nightfall Friday, House of Usher flickered across a huge screen in Prospect Park, and for two hours the Bandshell reigned as the world's freakiest movie theater.

The 1960 movie, based on a Poe story, was accompanied by a soundtrack courtesy of Brooklyn's own Marco Benevento. Benevento, darling of hippies, experimental jazzheads and NPR producers, dabbled in new territory with the gig: scoring a film. The piece, commissioned for the occasion, was joyfully executed by Benevento and the members of his steady trio: bassist Reed Mathis and drummer Andrew Barr. For those who don't know the keyboard player's work, the score was more akin to Jonny Greenwood's work on There Will Be Blood, than Karen O's feel-good choruses for Where the Wild Things Are."
